I’m an instructional designer with a passion for developing innovative, user-centered learning experiences.
Upon completion of my masters degree in Instructional Design & Technology, I intend to integrate my knowledge of instructional design, UX design, and educational technology to create impactful learning experiences for diverse audiences. I aspire to collaborate with like-minded professionals in an environment that values creativity and risk-taking, with the common goal of creating learner-centered instruction.
My journey as a learning experience designer began before I even knew of the field, as an elementary educator. As I gained expertise in the field, I became fascinated with the challenge of developing student-centered instruction to meet the needs of the diverse group of learners. The task of effectively teaching a group of 25 third graders with different learning styles, cultural backgrounds, reading proficiency, and physical abilities is no easy feat- It requires empathy, creativity, adaptability, and collaborative problem-solving on a daily basis. My ability to use these skills to create effective instruction has provided a strong foundation for my career in learning experience design.
Though my professional goals have shifted to focus on helping learners of all ages and backgrounds reach their potential, my work continues to be rooted in empathy. At the start of the design process, It’s crucial to seek to fully understand complex learner needs through research, developing empathy maps and learner personas based on users emotions and needs. A thorough needs analysis provides a strong foundation for the development of a problem statement and instructional goals. The development of effective, learner-centered instruction requires implementation of UX design principles and equitable learning experiences.
I currently reside in Tampa, FL.
